Xuemei Liu, L.Ac., Clinical College
of Chengdu University of TCM, 1986, where she also
taught for 12 years, published 10 medical papers and
completed 6 clinical research projects from 1988 to
1997. Ms. Liu has CA license, New York State License
and national certificate in both Acupuncture and Chinese
Herbology.
劉雪梅 執照針灸中醫師
Cai Ping Tang, L. Ac., Ph.D. and M.S.,
Guangzhou University of TCM, 1994 and 1991, respectively;
B.S., Hubei University of TCM. From 1994 to 2001 Dr.
Tang worked at the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of
TCM as a physician and associate professor. She then
moved to the United States, where she has taught and
practiced acupuncture. She has also served as a clinical
supervisor at Emperor’s College and Clinic of TCM
and at the Dongguk Royal University in Los Angeles.
Mrs. Tang has six publications on diabetes to her
name.

Adam Atman, C.M.T., M.S., L.Ac., M.M.Q.,
England and U.S. 1979 and 1987; Five Branches Institute,
Santa Cruz, 1992; International Institute of Medical
Qi Gong, 2001. Mr. Atman assisted Five Branches in
creating the first U.S. Masters Program in Medical
Qi Gong. He was a supervisor in International Institute
of Medical QiGong Clinic. Mr. Atman has been practicing
massage since 1979, teaching Taiji and Qigong since
1982, practicing Acupuncture in CA since 1991, and
teaching TCM since 1998.

Lizhen Chen, Ph.D., B.S., M.S., Ph.D.,
Henan Chinese Medical College, Guangxi Chinese Medical
College, and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in
Beijing, respectively. Dr. Chen has been a Postdoctoral
Fellow of New York University and Stanford University.
He currently is a Research Scientist with professional
memberships in the American Association of Microbiology,
the Immunology Association and the Pharmacology Association
in China.

1994. Mr. Chung has been in private practice since
1994, and owns a successful medical clinic in San
Jose, CA. He began teaching Acupuncture and Herbal
Medicine as well as supervision of the Medical Clinic
at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences
in Oakland, in 1998.

of TCM in Hawaii for 4 years. She practiced in California
for 4 years before joining the faculty at UEWM.

Xiaomin Jin, M.S., Ph.D. Zhejiang
College of Traditional Chinese Medicine of TCM, Hangzhou,
China, 1992; West Virginia University, West Virginia,
2002. Dr. Jin’s clinical experience includes practice
and study at the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion,
Hangzhou, China from 1992 to 1996. Dr. Jin was a Postdoctoral
Fellow at the Department of Neurology and Neurological
Sciences, Stanford University School of Medicine from
2002 to 2004. He has published several journals, papers,
and books.

Van Le, L.Ac., Ph.D., San Francisco
College of Acupuncture, 1988; and International University
of Complimentary Medicine. Mr. Van has been treating
patients over 5,000 patients over the past 15 years.
Mr. Van teaches arthritis and stress workshops to
communities and corporations. In 2001, he established
the Holistic Medicine Center in Los Gatos.

Li has received many prestigious honors and awards
over the years. He has published numerous articles
and has worked as a research-and-development scientist
for the past 7 years.

Xitong Li, Ph. D. and M.S., University
of Rochester, 1998 and 1994, respectively. Dr. Li
has done postdoctoral research for the NIH, has presented
at several conferences, and has a number of publications
to his name. He has worked as a genetic research scientist
for the past 11 years.

Guorong Liu, M.S., M.D. (China),
Harbin Medical University, China, 1992 and 1989, respectively.
Ms. Liu has many accomplishments in the field of immunology,
starting postgraduate work at the Department of Immunology
of the Cancer Institute in Harbin and later as a Research
and Development Associate for GBI Biotech of Beijing,
and a lecturer and Research Associate for the Center
for Immunology at Beijing Medical University. In 1997,
she started working in California in Research and
Development for the biotechnology field.

Jeffrey (Zhongxue) Mah, L.Ac., Ph.D.,
Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, 1982;
M.D.(China), Henan University of Chinese
Medicine, 1979; B.S. in Medicine, Qinghai University,
1979. Dr. Mah served as a physician specializing in
internal medicine and acupuncture for three large
hospitals in which he also served as Head of the Department
of Medical Administration. He taught acupuncture &
traumatology at Henan and Beijing Universities. Dr.
Jeffrey Mah has published 26 books about TCM.

Ning Pan, L.Ac., Guangzhou University
of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 1992. After graduating
with high honors, Mr. Pan worked at the Guilin Hospital
of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China from 1992-1998,
as the Resident Doctor, Departments of Internal Medicine,
Orthopedics, and Acupuncture. Mr. Pan was a Visiting
Scholar at the Amakusa Zike Hospital, Kumamoto, Japan;
and the American Association of Oriental Medicine.
He has research and publications on pain, soft tissue
injuries, and acne. He became an L.Ac. in California
in 2002.
潘寧 執照針灸中醫師
Leo Salinas, B.S., C.M.T., M.S., L.Ac.,
Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, 1980;
American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine,
San Francisco, 1998 and 2002. Mr. Salinas is a Certified
Vocational Education Instructor for Massage through
the CA BPPVE and a QiGong Instructor. He received
his CA Acupuncture license in 2000 and has been in
practice since then.

Eric Schanke, L.Ac., M.S., South
Baylo University, Anaheim, 1997. Mr. Schanke has been
practicing acupuncture in California since 1998. He
holds certification in Chinese Medical Massage from
Royal University of Oriental Medicine and in Nutritional
Therapy from the International Foundation for Nutrition
and Health. Mr. Schanke has been a writer, contributor,
and editor for Q-dex and Q-puncture acupuncture training
aids, also as a contributing writer to “Acupuncture
Today.”

Christopher Shelton M.Q.T., Longevity
Center, San Jose, CA, 1994. Mr. Shelton is a professional
member of the National Qigong Association, the Bay
Area Chen Taiji Society, and the Universal Society
of the Integral Way. Mr. Shelton has been teaching
and demonstrating Qigong and Taiji to schools, corporations,
health fairs, and other groups since 2001. He has
been a Medical Qigong instructor and practitioner
since 1994 and a Taiji Instructor since 1999.

Harry Waisblatt, D.C., National
College of Chiropractic, 1977. Mr. Waisblatt has been
a licensed chiropractor for the past 25 years in his
own practice. He has held the positions of president,
vice president, and treasurer of the local California
Chiropractic Association. He is currently a lecturer
for the American Institute of Acupuncture Orthopedics
& Traumatology besides serving on the UEWM faculty.
Harry Waisblatt 整脊博士
Ai Qun Wang, L.Ac., B.S., Beijing
University of TCM, 1983. Since 1984, Ms. Wang has
served as a doctor of Chinese medicine at the Red
Cross Hospital in Beijing and at the Western Traditional
Institute. She has been a researcher at the International
TCM Health Care Center in Beijing and an acupuncturist
at the Eastern Horizon Health Center in the USA. She
has been on the faculty of Clinton University in San
Francisco and the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health
Sciences, where she also served as acting dean of
academic affairs. Ms. Wang has several publications
to her name.

Mr. Wang has been practicing and teaching TCM for
3 years and is a member of the World Federation of
Traditional Chinese Orthopedics, Associated Acupressure
Professional, and California Practitioners of Chinese
Medicine. He contributed to the book Orthopedics Acupuncture.

Chi Hsiu Weng, Ph.D. in Movement
Arts, Ohio State University, 1987; M. Ed.
and B. Ed. in Physical Education,
National Taiwan Normal University, 1975 and 1973,
respectively. Dr. Weng has won many awards in the
martial arts. He was an invited speaker at the 1988
Olympic Games Scientific Congress in Korea and has
several publications to his name. Since 1975 he has
served on various faculties teaching the martial arts,
both in the USA and China, bringing over 25 years
of teaching experience to UEWM.

Stephen Woodley, L.Ac., M.S., Academy
of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences. Mr. Woodley
taught TCM Foundation, TCM Diagnosis, and Herbal Formulas
at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences
before joining the faculty at UEWM.

Chulong Xue, M.S., M.D. (China),
City University, London, UK, 2004; and Guang Zhou
College of TCM, Guang Zhou, China, 1984. Dr. Xue was
an Assistant Researcher in TCM Informatics at the
China Academy of TCM in Beijing from 1984 to 1986.
From 1986 to 1995 he was in Clinical Practice and
Research at Guang Dong Academy of TCM where he published
“The Journal of Tuina and Qigong.” In 2000, he became
a Consultant and Clinical Supervisor in TCM at the
Asante Academy of Chinese Medicine at Middlesex University,
London, UK. He is also a Visiting Lecturer there and
at the Acupuncture Foundation in Ireland and the Italian
School of TCM in Bologna, Italy.

Jianmin Zhao, B.S, M.S., Ph.D.,

Dr. Zhao taught Physics at the East China Normal University
1977. He was an instructor at the West Virginia University
from 1982 to 1988 and did his Post-Doctoral Research
from 1988 to 1991. He worked as a Senior Research
Associate at the University of Kentucky until 1997.
He is currently a Senior Reliability Engineer at Integrated
Silicon Solution, Inc.

Pathology and Pathophysiology, China Medical University,
2000 and 1997, respectively. Mr. Shi taught at the
China Medical University for 4 years before coming
to the U.S.

Li Zhang, L.Ac., B.S., Beijing University
of TCM. Ms. Zhang furthered her training and experience
as an intern and doctor and served as chief physician
and Head of the TCM Department at Tong Ren Hospital
in Beijing from 1983 to 2000. She was also a lecturer
and associate professor at Beijing Capital Medical
University for 6 years. She has extensive experience
treating diabetes and cardio-cerebrovascular diseases
and has published several papers.

Ying Qiu Wang, L.Ac., B.S., University
of Medicine in Sichuan; B.S., Beijing
Chinese Medical University, 1985. Mr. Wang then started
his own practice in California. The founder of Vital
Core Medicine, Mr. Wang is also the founder and president
of the International Institute for Health and Healing
and the Alliance of East-West Medicine in Sunnyvale.
He has 26 years of clinical and research experience,
with many publications and awards to his credit.

Jenny (Xiu-Zhen) Fan, L.Ac., B.A.,
Heilongjiang University of TCM, 1970, where she served
as assistant instructor, lecturer, and chief instructor
from 1970 until 1993. In the U.S., she was Chief Executive
Acupuncturist at a Mountain View clinic in 1993. Ms.
Fan joined the UEWM faculty in 2000.

Yue Miao Fang, M.S., Shanghai College
of TCM, 1992; B.M., Zhejiang TCM
College, 1987. Mr. Fang taught at Shanghai Long Hue
Hospital for 6 years before moving to California in
1998 and joining the faculty at other Chinese medicine
college. He also operates his own acupuncture clinic
in San Carlos, CA.

Ming Mao, Ph.D. and M.D.(China),
Tongji Medical University, 1991 and 1988, respectively.
Dr. Mao has many years of experience as a researcher,
medical practitioner, and lecturer. He is currently
working at the Stanford University School of Medicine
as a senior post-doctoral researcher. Dr. Mao has
many publications to his name, in both English and
Chinese, on immunological response to parasites and
other subjects.

Qin worked as a physician and professor before moving
to California in 2002 to open his own acupuncture

1985. Dr. Rao has worked as a researcher and engineer
in private industry for many years. He has also taught
at UC Berkeley and the University of Utah. Dr. Rao
has over 15 years experience in the field.

Ka Choi (Jeffrey) Tang, Ph.D.,
Vanderbilt University, 2000; M.S.
in Physiology and B.S. in Medical
Technology, National Yang-Ming University, 1992 and
1990, respectively. Dr. Tang has taught at UC Berkeley
and at the National Yang Ming University in Taiwan.
He has won several awards, including the NIH’s National
Research Service Award, and has a number of publications
to his credit.

Xiao Jing Tang, M.D.(China), First
Military Medical University, 1977. For 9 years Dr.
Tang worked at the Henan Chinese Medical Institute
and Hospital as a medical doctor, researcher and director
(emergency division). He has published and has several
awards to his name.
唐曉敬 醫學博士(中國)
Guo Zhi Wan, L.Ac., B.S., College
of TCM Science, Heilongjiang, 1976. Mr. Wan served
as a chief professor for 19 years at the Heilongjiang
College of TCM Science and was also a professor at
the College of TCM Science in Korea before coming
to the U.S. in 1995. He now operates his own acupuncture
clinic.

Wan Sheng Wang, Taiji Master, Beijing
Dong Cheng Sports College, 1978. Mr. Wang has over
10 years of experience in teaching Taiji and Qigong.
His interest in martial arts started since he was
in high school. He has been practicing Taiji (Yang-style)
for more than 30 years. He brings in knowledge of
theory and practice in Taiji.

Zong Wen Xiao, L.Ac., M.B., Beijing
University of TCM, 1992. Since 1992 Mr. Xiao has worked
as a trainer, coach and acupuncturist both here in
the U.S. and in China. He brings over 10 years’ experience
to UEWM.

Zhi Hong Xie, L.Ac., B.S., Shandong
Traditional Medical University, 1982. Ms. Xie had
served as a lecturer and professor of Oriental Medicine
at Shandong for 16 years. She also worked as a researcher
at NIAO-QU Medicine University in Japan, publishing
2 papers on infertility.

Hong Qiang Ye, L.Ac., B.S., Guangzhou
TCM University, 1986. Mr. Ye has 14 years of practice
at the Zhongshan TCM Hospital in China and in various
clinics in California.

Su Cheng Yu, L.Ac., M.S., University of East
West Medicine, 2001. B.S. in Biology, South
China Normal University, 1964. Ms. Yu served as the
director of the Biology Department at the Zhixin School;
she also has experience as a laboratory animal technician
and has studied phlebotomy and therapeutic massage.
She brings many years’ experience to UEWM.
